From the moment you walk through our doors, you will feel the difference. You are not just a patient. You are a member of the Smilestones family! As a family member, you will be met with a desire to provide you with a comfortable, caring environment.

First Visit

Our welcoming receptionists will offer you coffee, tea or water. Feel comfortable bringing your laptop; free Wi-fi service is available.


Within a few minutes, you will be escorted to your exam room, where a member of our dental staff will take whatever time is needed to discuss your needs and objectives, evaluate your dental requirements and recommend the proper treatment or course of action. If you are a Spanish-speaking patient, we have a translator on staff.


Rest your head and neck comfortably on a contoured pillow, listen to music or watch TV. During your dental work, every action will be explained to you and every attempt will be made to ensure your comfort.


Come experience a different kind of dental care at Smilestones. We’re family and we care about you. Please expect 1.5 hours for your first cleaning visit (xrays, charting, etc.). Hygiene visits thereafter are 60 minutes.

Payment

To help you prepare for your first dental appointment with us, we have provided the forms necessary to establish you as a new patient. You may download, print, and complete these forms before your appointment. Just remember to download and bring in the completed forms or arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to complete. 

Additionally, 

  • If covered by insurance you will be expected to pay your estimated portion at check out. 
  • Any balance due after insurance payment is expected upon receipt of statement 
  • We accept most dental insurances, except Medicaid
  • In-network with Delta and Cigna (depending upon your specific policy)
  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield patients must make immediate payment upon receipt of check remitted to them by BCBS to us, plus any other patient portion due. 

 

Please ensure that any insurance information is provided at least one day before your visit for verification purposes.

Cash, Checks, Credit/Debit Cards, and Flexible Spending (FSA) Cards. For FSA, please ensure your card can be used for dental or you will be responsible for all charges. Should we incur a returned check on your account, you will be assessed a $35.00 returned check fee.

Smilestones Family Dentistry is happy to file your insurance claim for you. However, your estimated portion for services is due at time of service.

We are experienced with all of the popular plans used in our area. Our patient care specialists endeavor to work with insurance companies so you don’t have to. We are in-network with Delta Dental Premier and with Cigna (however, it depends upon your type of policy).

Please note:

We file dental insurance as a complimentary service to you. For correct claim filing, please provide us with up-to-date dental insurance information, including a copy of your insurance card at check-in. Please alert us if you have any dental insurance changes such as policy holder, insurance company name and/or address, or discontinuation of insurance coverage. You may call us at 704.938.4211 before your appointment.

 

Your insurance coverage is between you and/or your employer, and your insurance company. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure we have the proper insurance claim information for you. If, for any reason, we do not receive payment for your treatment within 30 days of filing a claim, you or your stated Responsible Party, are responsible for any account balance. We can only estimate your portion of treatment costs as we are not responsible for what benefits your policy pays.

We strive to render excellent dental care to you and our entire patient base. When an appointment is scheduled, that time has been reserved for you.

When it is missed, that time cannot be used to treat another patient. Therefore, be advised that we require a 48 hour notice in the event that you need to reschedule your appointment. This allows for other patients to be scheduled into that appointment time.

If you miss an appointment without contacting us within the required time frame, it is considered a broken appointment. A fee of $50.00 will be charged to you. This fee cannot be billed to your insurance company and will be your direct responsibility.

Additionally, be advised that this cancellation/broken appointment fee will be charged if you are 15 minutes late to your appointment, The fee will be collected upon future appointment scheduling.
